A group of individuals suspected to be bandits and kidnappers have been apprehended at Donchichi Hotel on Odighie Road, Agbede, in the Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State.
Their arrest followed an alert raised by members of the community who noticed their suspicious presence at the hotel.
Barr. Abdul Hakeem Enatto, Chairman of the Hakeem Enatto Charity Foundation, confirmed the development, stating that the men were picked up after security operatives surrounded the hotel.
According to him, local vigilantes and officers from the Agbede Police Division, led by DPO CSP Donald, waited at the hotel after noticing that the suspects had arrived in two Hilux vehicles only one of which was initially at the scene. They remained on standby until the second vehicle returned before moving in to arrest the suspects.
He added that the operation was successful thanks to a timely tip-off from vigilant residents, and the DPO had personally confirmed the arrests.
Meanwhile, the hotel manager, Alhaji Kadiri Sadiq, stated that no weapons were found on the suspects. He explained that the men had checked in to rest briefly before continuing their journey. However, staff became uneasy about their behavior and contacted the police, who took them into custody for further investigation.
