The Federal High Court in Enugu has ordered the University of Lagos (UNILAG), Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), and the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) to stop all admission processes for the 2025/2026 academic session.
The interim order was issued by Justice A.T. Segun-Bello following a suit filed by a group of students.
The applicants Chibuzor Success, Oyeleye Zainab Ayomide, Adedeji John Samuel, Monsura Aliat Aduragbem, and Bassey Daniel Nsikak instituted the case on behalf of other candidates who sat for the post-UTME in the two institutions.
They requested the court to restrain the schools and JAMB from releasing or confirming any admission lists until their grievances are fully heard, arguing that proceeding with the process would render their case meaningless and damage their chances.
Justice Segun-Bello held that the concerns raised were weighty enough to be considered and ordered that UNILAG, OAU, and JAMB be officially served to respond.
In the meantime, the judge instructed all parties to maintain the current status quo, meaning no admission list can be released or concluded for the 2025/2026 academic year until the matter is determined.
The case has been adjourned to October 28, 2025, when both parties will present their arguments.
