The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has expressed frustration over the Federal Government’s prolonged inaction on issues affecting its members.
The union outlined conditions under which it would accept the Federal Government’s counteroffer to the 2009 agreement, which is currently under review by a committee led by Abel Enitan, the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Education.
Education Minister Tunji Alausa revealed on Thursday that a technical committee headed by Enitan was finalizing a revised proposal for ASUU’s consideration.
The 2009 agreement remains the most recent pact signed between both parties, with ASUU now demanding a review to ensure better welfare for lecturers.
ASUU National President, Chris Piwuna, emphasized that only a concrete and acceptable counter-offer from the government would be considered by
the union.
